Guangzhou (JLC), October 13, 2023 – China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 0.2% month on month in September, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on October 13.
On a year-on-year comparison, the CPI came in flat in September 2023.
In January-September 2023, the CPI was 0.4% higher than in the corresponding period of 2022, the NBS data showed.
Meanwhile, China's producer price index (PPI), which measures factory-gate goods prices, gained 0.4% month on month in September, the NBS data indicated.
On a year-on-year comparison, however, the PPI dropped 2.5% in September.
In January-September 2023, the PPI was 3.1% lower than in the corresponding period of 2022, the NBS data showed.
