PetroChina sees 4.5% fall in 2025 net profit

Guangzhou (JLC), March 30, 2026--PetroChina's net profit attributable to its equity shareholders dropped by 4.5% year on year in 2025, according to the company's annual report released on March 29.

 

The company's net profit came in at CNY157.30 billion last year, down from CNY164.68 billion in the year before, data in accordance with Chinese Accounting Standards shows.

 

Meanwhile, its revenue decreased by 2.5% year on year to CNY2.86 trillion.

 

The oil giant attributed the decline to lower international crude oil prices.

 

PetroChina processed 1.376 billion barrels of crude oil in 2025, a slip of 0.2% from 2024, data from the report indicates.

 

At the same time, the company's combined production of gasoline, diesel, and kerosene stood at 116.78 million mt, down by 2.6% year on year. Conversely, its total sales of these products increased by 1.1% to 160.81 million mt.

 

Last year, the company's oil and gas output amounted to 1.84 billion barrels of oil equivalent, a gain of 2.5% year on year.

 

For 2026, PetroChina plans to produce 941.30 million barrels of crude oil and 5.47 trillion cubic feet of salable natural gas, the company stated in the report.

 

It also aims to process 1.377 billion barrels of crude oil this year, roughly stable from the actual crude runs in 2025.


PetroChina, net profit
