China's manufacturing PMI rebounds in June

Guangzhou (JLC), June 30, 2026--China's manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) rebounded in June 2026, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 30.

 

The manufacturing PMI came in at 50.3% in June, up 0.3 percentage points from May.

A breakdown of June's manufacturing PMI showed that the sub-index for production stood at 51.4%, a month-on-month increase of 0.2 percentage points, the NBS data indicated.

 

On the demand side, the sub-index for new orders reached 51.2%, a rise of 1.3 percentage points from the previous month.

 

Meanwhile, the sub-index for raw material inventories settled at 48.4%, down 0.2 percentage points from the prior month; the sub-index for employment edged down by 0.1 percentage points to 48.5%, while that for distributor delivery time went up by 0.7 percentage points to 49.9%.

China's non-manufacturing commercial index came in at 50.2% in June, up 0.1 percentage points from May, the NBS data also showed.

The commercial activity index for construction stood at 49.0%, a gain of 0.2 percentage points month on month, while that for services climbed by 0.1 percentage points to 50.4%.

 

The commercial activity indexes for telecommunications, broadcasting, television and satellite transmission services, internet software and information technology services, monetary and financial services, and insurance were all above 55.0% in June, suggesting relatively high prosperity for these sectors.

 

In contrast, the indexes for air transportation and real estate were below the threshold, the NBS said.
