China's foreign trade jumps 17.3% in first seven months

Guangzhou (JLC), August 10, 2026--China's foreign trade surged by 17.3% year on year to 30.13 trillion yuan (about 4.36 trillion US dollars) in the first seven months of 2026, according to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs of the PRC (GACC).

 

Specifically, the country's exports increased by 14.0% year on year to 17.44 trillion yuan in the period, while its imports leapt by 22.0% to 12.69 trillion yuan.

 

In July alone, China's foreign trade soared by 19.2% year on year to 4.66 trillion yuan, with exports rising by 17.8% to 2.71 trillion yuan and imports growing by 21.2% to 1.95 trillion yuan, the data shows.

 

In January-July, the value of goods traded under ordinary trade, processing trade, and through bonded logistics stood at 18.13 trillion yuan, 5.81 trillion yuan, and 5.18 trillion yuan, a gain of 10.2%, 26.3%, and 40.8%, respectively.

 

During this period, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations remained China's biggest trading partner, with a trade value of 5.14 trillion yuan, accounting for roughly 17.1% of the latter's total foreign trade, calculations based on the GACC data indicate. The figure was 20.0% higher than the same period of last year.

 

At the same time, China's trade with its second-largest trading partner, the European Union, climbed by 9.5% year on year to 3.67 trillion yuan. Conversely, the trade with the US decreased by 1.6% to 2.38 trillion yuan.
